Hot on the heels of HTC, Toshiba just released the Windows Mobile 6.5 update with the SnapDragon powered TG01. The new ROM feautures a homescreen semector (Orange/Windows Mobile/Toshiba) among other new features, like MyPhone and the Marketplace.
Remember to back up your files before flashing the phone.

I took delivery of my TG01 from Orange in early October. I was told that Windows Mobile 6.5 would soon be available, then I saw many sites like this one all saying that it is…
I notice that Orange and others are ’selling’ the latest TG01 with WinMob 6.5 – still I am waiting!
I have had mine crash 4 times under 6.1, and have had to use master reset, losing all my extra apps and themes etc. plus my SMS addresses, emails and so-on, thankfully I sync regularly so got some of them back.
I have tried here there and everywhere to get the 6.5 upgrade without success.
Where can I get it from?

Well
I went to the link, downloaded the zip file, unzipped it to the storage card.
Used File Explorer to click on the TG01_SDDL.exe file, a message came up to the effect that I was about to run the SD downloader etc… and at the bottom of the screen was the ‘Download’ acceptance which I dult tapped – I got a failure message that said:
“Download failed. File name is INVALID!!”
So, I am seated once again at the drawing board……

I don’t have a TG01 to try this out, but are you sure that the update must be run from the SD Storage card and not from your PC with your TG01 hooked to it (with ActiveSync enabled)? That’s how ROM updates are usually done (but maybe Toshiba doesn’t do it like that..)
There is a PDF with instructions on the Toshiba website – I followed that. I tried running the app whilst in sync mode, it didn’t respond at all.
Most apps etc. for the TG01 are installed by copying the initiator or cab to the storage card and running installation from there.
I have put my details on the Toshiba website tech help zone. I await their reply.
