Toshiba TG02 hits the FCC

Looks like the successor to the TG01 is right around the corner. The Toshiba TG02 just passed the FCC a couple of days ago. Still no word on the final specifications other than the radio bands supported by the handset (see picture above) but the handset was initially rumored to be a TG01 with a capacitive touchscreen (the TG01 has a resistive panel).

Video of Windows Mobile 6.5.3 on the Toshiba TG01

As it was reported yesterday a couple of devices are running Windows Mobile 6.5.3 have been spotted at Microsoft’s CES booth. PhoneScoop did a short video of the TG01 featuring Microsoft’s latest updates to the OS. Unfortunately there’s a whole lot of mistakes in the video; the on-screen keyboard is not the default one but Toshiba’s, the the top status bar doesn’t get swyped to appear but only has to be tapped etc…

Windows Mobile 6.5.3 spotted at CES

The boys at Neowin spotted a couple of smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.5.3 at Microsoft’s CES booth. As you can see in the pictures, it’s the Toshiba TG01 and the Pharos Traveller 137 GPS. We still don’t know when Microsoft is going to officially released the updated OS and if OEMs like HTC are going to offer it (and skin the new ugly soft buttons!). More news at MWC I guess.
