Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to get Android 2.1 and HD video recoding update in Q4 2010

Finally some good news coming out of Sony Ericsson today; The Xperia X10 will officially get an upgrade to Android 2.1 later this year (Q4 2010) and receive a couple of new features too:

Some examples of user benefits that will be included in the UXP upgrade for Xperia™ X10 in Q4 2010 are:
- Upgrade to Android OS version 2.1
- HD video recording as per the same execution as Sony Ericsson Vivaz™
- Wireless home connectivity via DLNA
- Improvements to signature applications Timescape™ and Mediascape to make them even smarter and richer

HD- Video (720P) recording hopefully means that HTC will also deliver on its promises…remember that HTC told me a couple of months ago that DivX playback and HD video will be enabled on the HTC Desire with a future update…Anyway, SE is also announcing that the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro will also be updated to Android 2.1 in Q4 2010.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Xperia X10 Mini Pro hands-on videos

Here are two hands-on videos I shot a couple of hours ago at Sony Ericsson’s press event. The first one shows (yes it’s blurry sorry, the lighting was horrible & it was a real pain to focus on the device…) is a UI walk-through of the Xperia X10 Mini. The second one (which isn’t blurry…) is basically the same thing but on the Xperia X10 Mini Pro. As you can see the whole thing is smooth as silk (the screen looks really sharp in real life btw). As it was mentioned in the specs those two phones are using Qualcomm’s MSM7227 SoC @ 600Mhz.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini vs Xperia X10 Mini Pro size comparison

Here’s a couple of size comparison pictures of the newly announced Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini vs the Xperia X10 Mini Pro.

Here’s a front shot (Mini on the left & Mini Pro on the right):

Front shot with the Mini Pro keyboard open:

Back shot (Mini Pro on the left & Mini on the right):

Thickness shot (Mini on the left & Mini Pro on the right), as you can see the Mini Pro is a bit thicker because of the keyboard. But it isn’t that big at all and feels really good in the hand:

I’ll upload some hands-on action with the two devices in a few…

Sony Ericsson Robyn vs iPhone size comparison

Remember the the Sony Ericsson Robyn aka Xperia X10 mini with have seen yesterday? Well it’s back for an other photo-shoot, this time for a little size comparison against the iPhone. As you can see the the Robyn looks really small against Apple’s product, so far we don’t really have any other info.

Sony Ericsson Robyn spotted, looks like an Xperia X10 mini

Now that looks funky, GSMArena just received two pictures of a Sony Ericsson Android smartphone named Robyn that looks like a mini version of the Xperia X10. Could this Sony Ericsson Robynbe the equivalent of what Nokia did with the Nokia N97 Mini or is it just a KirF?
