HTC Mozart and LG C900 show up in Telstra storefront. Launching October 21

The HTC Mozart and LG C900 have just appeared in a Testra storefront this morning in Australia with a an Octber 21 launch date. Both device mock-ups are actually touch enabled tv sets aimed at potential buyers to test Windows Phone 7 (similar to what is currenty present in Microsoft’s retail stroes in the US. Telstra showcases the TelstraOne Windows Phone 7 application

Here’s another look at Telstra’s TelstraOne Windows Phone 7 application we saw last month at the Australian Tech-ED event (note that this new video was shot at the time). You can expect every carrier to have its own WP7 application/Hub this fall and hopefully all of them willlook as good (or btter) than what you can see in the video below:

TelstraOne Windows Phone 7 application video

I’m not 100% sure but this looks like Telstra’s official Hub/Application that was mention in a previous post earlier today and that will come pre-installed on their Windows Phone 7 devices this fall. The applications apparently acts as a news reader, weather, social hub directly tied into the carriers online services. Check it out after the break:

Telstra talks Windows Phone 7 Hubs and lack of Tethering

 

As you probably already know (or not) Windows Phone 7 won’t support Tethering in its first release this fall. It has never been officialy or publically discussed by Microsoft but I   breifly talked about it once before and said that to for me, this will have a bigger impact than the lack of copy and paste. Mobile Operators and carriers aren’t really fond of this feature and rarely enable it on their devices unless you pay for a dedicated tethering data plan on top of your default contract. Interestingly Australian telco Tesltra is pushing Microsoft to include tethering as soon as possible in the OS so it can be included in the carrier’s Windows Phone 7 hub that will be pre-installed on the devices:

HTC Mozart Windows Phone 7 handset headed to Telstra in October

According to the internal Telstra flyer pictured above the HTC Mozart Windows Phone 7 handset is head to the Australian carrier in October 2010. The device on the document is obviously is and HTC Desire with the WP7 UI photoshoped on it but this often happens in internal carrier documents when the device in question hasn’t been officially announced yet. As we have heard before HTC seems to be name its Windows Phone 7 prototype handsets after artists names like Schubert, Mondrian and now Mozart.

HTC HD2 launched in Australia yesterday, rumored Tablet canceled?


I’m going to keep it short and sweet. First, as it was announced last month, Australia’s telco, Telstra just launched the HTC HD2 down south yesterday. The other piece of news is that,according to Anthony Petts, Sales and Marketing Director, ANZ, for HTC Corps, The rumored Android (or ChromeOS/WinMo?) Tablet project has been shelved. The company is supposedly focusing on a “new generation of mobile phones”. canceled
