Nokia launches new OVI Maps with Free turn-by-turn navigation in 74 countires


Here’s some big news folks, Nokia just launched their new OVI Maps navigation application featuring free turn-by-turn walk & drive navigation for its handsets. Sounds familiar? Yes Google did the same thing with Google Navigation for Android 2.0 not long ago. But this is the real deal this time around, unlike Google offering which is only available in the US and needs an active connection to work (maps are stream live to the Android device) the new OVI Maps offers support for 74 countries, in 46 languages, and traffic information for more than 10 countries, as well as detailed maps for more than 180 countries and the whole maps are stored on your device!

The N97 version shoud be out on Jan 28th but no news about the N900 yet.

Nokia N97 Mini, X6 & X3 announced

Today Nokia announced three new phones at Nokia Wolrd 09. Let’s start with the N97 mini, which is a slimmed down version of the original N97 released a few months ago:

The Nokia N97 mini will be available next month for an estimated retail price of EUR450 before taxes and carriers subsidies. It has 8gb of internal memory (upgradable via microSD) a 3.2″ touchscreen and slide out qwerty keyboard all packed in a 14.2mm thin body.A 5Mpx camera with Carl Zeiss lens and LED flash is also on board.

The X6 looks like the sucessor of the eXpress Music launch quite a fewmonths ago. The hadrware looks really nice andlooking at the video it seems to have a capacitive touch screen!. It will retail in Q42009 for €459 without contract. Here are the specs:

Finally with have the Nokia X3 which the first Series 40 device to come Ovi Store enabled. It’s a non-touch screen slider phone. Estimated reatil price is €115 with an availability in Q4 09. Here are some of the specs:
