HTC 7 Mozart Windows Phone 7.5 Mango firmware

Totally forgot to post about this one yesterday so here it is. What looks like a near final version of the official HTC 7 Mozart Windows Phone 7.5 Mango firmware has leaked and can painfully be flashed on the current handsets. I say painfully because some users seem to have encountered issues in the process while others are fine. Please keep in mind that this will void your device warranty and that nobody knows for sure if this firmware will be different from the official release coming out this fall.

Windows Phone 7 device firmware updates being rolled out for Omnia 7, Optimus 7 and others

Several Windows Phone devices have firmware updates now available to instal when the handset is plugged in the the PC. Keep in mind that these will only update the firmware part and not the OS itself. As of right now several models are part of the roll out: the Samsung Omnia 7, HTC Mozart, LG Optimus 7. There nothing to really get excited about here folks and in the case of the Omnia 7 this update doesn’t included the latest bootloader available for the device which can be manually installed here (but it does include the disable capacitive hardware buttons when the screen is touched). As a matter of fact I didn’t even get the update notification at all.

HTC HD7 and HTC 7 Trophy NoDo Roms available

Following the leak of the HTC 7 Mozart NoDo ROM last night the same russian guy also leaked the HTC HD7 and HTC 7 Trophy NoDo ROM today. These are most probably the official thing with the final 7389 NoDo build so if you don’t care about your warranty just go ahead and flash your device and start copy/pasting all night long.

HTC 7 Mozart ROM with non Final NoDo update leaked

A new HTC 7 Mozart ROM containing the non final build of NoDo (7355) has just leaked a couple of minutes ago. It’s up to you to decide if it’s worth to flash you Mozart with this one though given that the official update should start to roll out pretty soon. A similar 7355 build rom for the Samsung Omnia 7 is also scheduled to be leaked soon (Firmware: KA1) but once again it may be better to wait a bit for the official release.

UPDATE: The OS version is actually 7389 (which should be the final NoDo build) and not 7355 as stated by the original poster. So you can feel free to flash your Mozart with it ;-) .

HTC 7 Mozart headed to T-Mobile US

The latest rumor making the rounds this weekend is pointing at an imminent launch of the HTC 7 Mozart on T-Mobile in the US. As of right the only Windows Phone 7 device is sold by the carrier is the HTC HD7 (the Dell Venue Pro is also exclusive to TMo but only sold by Dell and at Microsoft’s Stores) so it should come as no surprise that another WP7 devices is on the way. But don’t get your hopes up for 4G/ HSPA+ support because the QSD8250 SoC powering the device only supports HSDPA 7.2Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps Data Speed (full specifications here).

Enable Tethering on HTC Windows Phone 7 devices

As you have probably already noticed by now I usually only post about things that I personally think are worth talking about (that’s the beauty of having my own blog..) and this is why you won’t see me talk about every single homebrew Windows Phone 7 application popping up. Unless it’s something I think is really important like enabling tethering on HTC’s Windows Phone 7 devices. So if you have a developer unlocked device (you know..if you actually paid the $99) or if you just unlocked yours with the ChevronWP7 unlocker (which will definitely be rendered useless after the first OS Update) here is how to finally enable USB Tethering on an HTC Windows Phone 7 handsets:

Samsung Omnia 7 leading the Windows Phone 7 pack in France ?

According to french website monsmartphone.net who allows its users to customize its web page to better fit their smartphone preferences the Samsung Omnia 7 is clearly the win french hearts in front of the HTC Mozart and LG Optimus 7. This obviously doesn’t mean much given that the sample was fairly small (only 1268 readers) and the fact that this obviously doesn’t reflect sales but probably only peoples interest in a particular device. But given that Microsoft and its OEMs don’t seem to be bothered to detail any sales numbers we are probably going to see similar stats popping up everywhere (other stats recently showed that HTC’s WP7 devices where the most popular because of the number of models).

Samsung Focus, HTC Surround, Samsung Omnia 7 review round-up

I just wanted to give you the heads up on a couple in-depth reviews of the Samsung Focus, HTC Surround and Samsung Omnia 7 review posted by the good folks at PhoneArena (US) and GSMArena (EU). As it is usually the case with both website their reviews cover all the hardware and software features of the phones and a lots of media including photo & video samples and walkthrough videos. As I’ve said before you can’t go wrong with any of the currently announced Windows Phone 7 handset but Samsung’s hardware seems to be the best match for the OS thanks to the Super-AMOLED screen (that’s if you can live with the PenTile-Matrix sub-pixel arrangement). Unfortunately HTC seems to have messed up the camera software (or the sensors used aren’t really that good) especially in video mode.

HTC HD7 / HD3 Rom and HTC Mozart Rom leaked

If you have followed closely the latest HTC HD7 leaks you probably know by now that the HTC HD7 / HD3 is the one and only HTC Schubert that we have been hearing about all along. The O2 branded ROM of the device has now been leaked by the good folks in China and is ready to be played with. Included in the Rom is the HTC Hub, HTC Photo Enhancer, HTC Connection Setup, HTC Converter, HTC Stocks and Sound Enhancer (I wonder why were the HTC Flashlight and HTC Notes  are gone..).

HTC Mozart support page online on Orange’s website

Orange UK has apparently jumped the gun and posted the tiny bit of the HTC Mozart User Guide on their server ahead of the official announcement next Monday. frankly there isn’t much to chew on here other that a few drawings/diagrams explaining how to open the device to insert the sim card and battery. It looks nearly identical to the HTC Legend’s uni-body chassis design.

HTC Mozart specifications leaked: 8Mp Camera with Xenon Flash confirmed

Following last night’s HTC HD7 leak comes the HTC Mozart hardware specifications. The big deal here is the 8MP camera and Xenon flash that we all saw a few weeks ago in the leaked video and that are now confirmed on paper. The Mozart will sport a 3.7″ WVGA screen (compared to the 3.8″ on the HTC Mondrian / Spark/ Trophy and 4.3″ on the HTC HD7 / HD3), a 1ghz CPU (no word on the model thought), 1300mh battery and will have the following size: 119 x 60.5 x 11.9 mm. I find it interesting that HTC decided to differentiate this device with the higher MP camera (which is also capable of HD recording) and a Xenon flash (which is a first for HTC). More pictures after the break:

HTC Mozart and HTC Desire Z receive certification

Today is the HTC Mozart (also known as the HTC 7 Mozart) and HTC Desire Z turn to be certified by the Global Certification Forum. There’s noting really newsworthy here other than the list of radio bands supported by both devices and the fact that the HTC Desire Z can apparently travel in time (notice the certification date…)

HTC HD7 to be released on October 18th ?

The mysterious HTC HD7 is apparently going to hit the European market on October 18th if the O2 document pictured above turns out to be true. The device will go on sale for €599 without any strings attached or €79 with a 2 year contract (on Germany’s O2 network). We still don’t have any info on the HTC HD7 hardware but my guess is that it will either be the HTC T8788 (also rumored to be called the HTC Surround) or maybe the official name of the HTC Schubert / Mozart.

HTC Sense Hub shown on HTC Schubert device

It’s leaking folks! Here’s a video of the previously shown HTC Hub customization running on an actual device (which looks like the HTC Schubert / Mozart). I personally don’t really like what HTC has done in terms of UI design. It doesn’t seems to follow the guidelines at all. What do you guys think? Video after the break:

More blurry pictures of the HTC Mozart

Xmoo has posted a few more extremely blurry pictures of the HTC Mozart  Windows Phone 7 handset in the last few days. Nothing to really get excitided about given that everything you see here can bee seen in better quality in the HTC Schubert video posted last week.

HTC Mozart Windows Phone 7 device live pictures leaked

Xmoo over on Twitter has just posted a couple of live pictures of the HTC Mozart Windows Phone 7 which looks identical to the HTC Schubert just like I had guessed. As you can see in the pictures above the device does have an aluminium uni-body and can be opened to slide the sim card and battery in. The camera Flash definitely looks like it’s a Xenon too. Don’t forget to check out the video of the HTC Schubert here.

First HTC Windows Phone 7 handset passes the FCC

Looks like today is the Windows Phone 7 devices “certification and leak” day. After the Asus handset spotted in Pakistan, the Samsung Cetus FCC certification, here come the first Windows Phone 7 device from HTC passing the FCC test. Unfortunately there isn’t much info about it in the filling other than the fact that the model number is PD26100, has BT, Wifi n  and supports the GSM 850 / UMTS I/II bands. Could the be the device we saw a few days ago? HTC Mozart, Mondrian, Schubert, Gold? We can only guess. But remember that another mysterious HTC device hit the FCC back in March and is supposed to go live on Sept 15th. Interestingly HTC has an event scheduled on September 14th, but this will probably only be for Android phones. Stay tuned…
