New Windows Phone Xbox Live games announced and 27 Exclusive EA Games for Nokia Lumia phones

Microsoft has announced the upcoming Xbox Live enabled games that a re set to be launched in February (even they don’t get mysteriously delayed as it has often been the case..). Among them are Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Splinter Cell Conviction, Toy Soldiers: Boot Camp, BulletAsylum which was initially unveiled by its indie developers more than a year ago and finally Chickens Can’t Fly.

Nokia and EA Games have also outed their partnership for 27 timed exclusive games which are going to be made available to Nokia Lumia owners first. Among them are Real Racing, Mirrors Edge, Tiger Woods and more. Check out a short teaser video after the break:

EA games to come exclusively on Nokia Windows Phones

Electronic Arts took the stage at the Nokia World event to announce that several of their big name EA Mobile games ill be released exclusively on Nokia windows Phones , the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710. As you can see in the slide above Fifa12, Madden 12, Dead Space, Need For Speed and several other AAA titles are headed our way. Hasbro and Chillingo’s collections are also part of the deal.

Need For Speed Autolog Windows Phone 7 application released

Electronic Arts has just released the official Need For Speed Autolog companion application for Windows Phone 7. Even thought Autolog is now built into all Need For Speed games recently released this application will only work with Need For Speed Hot Pursuit for now:

The award-winning Need For Speed Hot Pursuit is built around Autolog. It’s the intelligent engine and the center of the most connected Need For Speed ever, keeping you in the middle of the action both in and out of the game. Autolog is created to allow you to connect, compare and compete with your Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Friends. When playing as a Cop or a Racer you accomplishments are constantly compare against your friends to deliver the very best in connected social competition.

The application is obviously free and can be downloaded from here. You can also grab NFS Undercover for WP7 here. To use it you will need an Autolog account which is only possible if you bought Need For Speed Hot Pursuit.

Rumor: Microsoft in talks to buy EA

This could be huge. Reuters is reporting rumors of an Eletronics Arts purchase buy Microsoft:

NEW YORK, Sept 23 (Reuters) – Shares of Electronic Arts Inc (ERTS.O) jumped more than 4 percent to $19.36 on Wednesday on unsubstantiated talk that Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) might be interested in buying the video game publisher, traders said.
“There’s talk that Microsoft might be interested in acquiring Electronic Arts. It’s unsubstantiated chatter, but it’s out there,” said Frederic Ruffy, options strategist at in New York.

A London-based trader also cited similar talk as making rounds in Europe. Microsoft shares were up 0.9 percent at $26 on Nasdaq


But Trip Chowdhry, an analyst at Global Equities Research, said Electronic Arts was not on Microsoft’s “radar screen” based on his industry contacts.

“Our contacts just don’t see Microsoft buying Electronic Arts, no synergies whatsoever, and also not Microsoft’s corporate primary focus right now,” Chowdhry wrote in an e-mailed note.
