Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 vs Android version video comparison

I’ve just shot a short video comparing the just released Windows Phone 7 version of Angry Birds running on the Samsung Omnia 7 versus the Android version running on the HTC Sensation. As you will (or may not because the video is shot at 25fps..) the WP7 version is not as smooth as the Android version. There are several things to remember though: XNA games are limited to 30fps while Android games are usually only limited by the device’s screen VSync, physics calculation on WP7 still doesn’t use the SIMD/NEON FP units of the Snapdragon CPU (this will be available in Mango). Then again, the WP7 versions isn’t slow either so this shouldn’t bother you if you plan to purchase the game. Video after the break:

UPDATE: There’s no more 30FPS limitation in XNA apps in Mango.

Microsoft delays Angry Birds until end of June, announces dates and prices of upcoming Xbox Live games

Contrary to what was officially announced last month Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 won’t be out until June 29th (priced at $2.99). Microsoft just can’t get the PR right it seems. The 6 weeks of must have game campaign was initially set to start on April 9th but the company silently delayed the whole thing without saying anything about the whole situation and left people wondering what was going on.

Video of the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Xbox Live games: Hydro Thunder Go, Fable Coin Golf, GeoDefence

Microsoft has just uploaded a video of the of the February Xbox showcase event which contains hand on footage of some of the upcoming Xbox Live enabled Windows Phone 7 games announced a few weeks ago. You will get to see Fable Coin Golf, Hydro Thunder Go and Geo Defense in action. Hydro Thunder Go is obviously the most resource intensive in terms of 3D rendering and it unfortunately really shows up in the video where you will see that the game’s framerate seems to be on the lower-end of the scale. Let’s just hope that this was just an un-finished version of the game thought. Video after the break:

Chicks ‘N’ Vixens: Angry Birds remake for Windows Phone 7

Can’t wait for Angry Birds to come out on Windows Phone7?  Here’s your chance to have a similar gaming experience on your new WP7 smartphone; just go grab the free beta of Chicks ‘N’ Vixens from the Marketplace here. The game is obviously a straight of remake of the original game developed by Rovio and that has yet to be released on Microsoft’s mobile platform. The only major difference is the gesture used to aim your chickens (feels kinda awkward IMO). You can follow the developer’s blog here. Check out my short hands-on video after the break.

Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 officially confirmed again. Already 12 millions payed downloads

Mikael Hed,founder of Rovio mobile, has once again confirmed that Angry Birds is currently being developed for Windows Phone 7 during the Le Web conference today in Paris. The game has been bought more than 12 million times (!) and has been downloaded (free version with ads) more than 30 Million times (!!). Crazy numbers right? That’s why having this game on Windows Phone 7 can only be a good thing for PR and marketing. Here’s the short transcript about the WP7 version:

We’re actively looking at WP7, we have a very good relationship with Microsoft so no harm done on that (talking about the PR cock-up). They just announced our game for the platform a bit ahead of schedule.

Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 not coming out this year

The ongoing Angry Birds on Windows Phone 7 saga just won’t end. Rovio has just tweeted that the Windows Phone 7 version of the game won’t be out this year. This in some way also confirms that they are actually working on a WP7 version so it ain’t all bad I guess. There’s already several high-quality games in the Marketplace but having a high profile mobile game like Angry Birds is always good for PR and Marketing…

Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 to be announced on December 11th ?

According to Rovio Mobile’s latest tweet more info about a potential Windows Phone 7 version of Angry Birds is going to be release on Angry Birds Day which is scheduled to take place on December 11th. Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7 may be coming after all

Rovio, developers of the popular Angry Birds game have just tweeted that they are looking into developing a Windows Phone 7 version of the game. (as you can see in the screenshot after the break). Windows phone 7 has still a long way to go before matching the iPhone’s game catalog so let’s just hope that Microsoft is doing everything to get all the major Independent developers on-board (without screwing up..).

Angry Birds and Tap Tap Revenge coming to Windows Phone 7 ?

There’s nothing official but thanks to Tasos for pointing to this tiny screenshot found on the newly launched Windows Phone 7 portal that shows two of the most successful mobile games as now being present on the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace : Tap Tap Revenge and Angry Birds. this could obviously just be a mock-up picture but I wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft manged to get both of these applications on board for the the launch of the platform. Ebay application has already been confirmed a while ago.
