Skype for Windows Phone 7 is still coming soon

You got to love delays. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about them especially when the company decides to stay silent about a product. As you all already know, Skype for Windows Phone was announced back in April of last year and was supposedly set to launch alongside Mango last fall. Nothing happened, Nokia’s then flagship product, the Lumia 800 didn’t even feature a front facing camera so Microsoft may have decided to act as nothing was missing. That’s until this week CES where Skype’s VP of Products Rick Osterloh just let a “coming soon” slip in a interview with….Microsoft. Video after the break:

Coming soon can mean anything from next month to next quarter so you will all have to be patient and wonder why it took so long. Noting surprising though when you think about it. Microsoft can’t even get its own Skydrive application to integrate nicely with the Office Hub embedded in the OS (did you notice that you can only open Docs through IE?). Anyway, the first iteration of Skype for Windows Phone will be, as first unveiled, a third party application before it gets fully integrated later down the road in Windows Phone 8 aka Apollo. Speaking of delays..Where are PhotoSynth and Layar ?

I see you get bored of Windows Phone, and coming back to Android lol. Now seriously, the only thing we can do is have patience.

Mostly getting bored of corporate weirdness and bad PR/marketing (oh and Nokia’s crappy firmware/Hardware quality control..) :)

I totaly agree with you MobileTechWorld, we still can’s see the effort from Microsoft and its partners that they want WP to be the number 1 in the world! It still feels as if they just want to be there and at what position and how much sales doesn’t matter to them!

I am very happy with my WP but I still don’t find it good enough to tell my friends to buy one! There are still a couple of big steps that we need to see but espacially we need to get the feeling from Microsoft and their partners that they want to go for the best! The ones that are now buying their device are their fans and fans want hero devices!!! Why would you start with low spec devices for your fans?!? Very strange!!!

And than that big bullshit we don’t need specs we have user experience….just don’t fool us!!! We need specs and the best of them!!! I just can’t figure out why everyone takes that bullshit, we don’t need specs………very very strange!!! Take for example the rdp app, do you know how hard your proc and gpu are burning running it because it is to heavy for the current specs! You are just blowing your battery empty only because Micrsoft doens’t put in great procs and gpu’s!!!

And yes Windows Phone is a wonderfull device and platform but I would like to feel the winners mentality from Microsoft!!!
