The Nokia Lumia 900 doesn't have a PenTile display

Ok, file this into the “not yet 100% confirmed” but based on a macro shot of the Nokia Lumia 900 screen shot by the boys at the Verge, the AMOLED panel on the handset doesn’t exhibit the RGBG Martix of a Pentile panel but instead seems to be a RGB martix so this means that Samsung is apparently providing Nokia with a Super AMOLED Plus equivalent screen. Check out how the S AMOLED + compares to a Pentile panel here (click on the images for full size).

Once again this isn’t 100% confirmation but if this turns out to be the case then I can safely say that my two Lumia 800 devicesfeel slightly less exciting tonight. Anyway,I hope to have more confirmation soon. More Nokia Lumia 900 tech specs here.

UPDATE: It’s been officially confirmed by Nokia that it is not a PenTile Matrix panel.

UPDATE: Two more close up picture after the break showing the what clearly looks like an RGB matrix:

Awesome… now only if it was 30% thinner like Samsung phones…. : /

This is great news, was afraid they totally ruined a great phone by using PenTile on a 800×480 4.3″ screen.
Now, if it only can come to Europe soon enough. Guess we’ll have to wait until WMC at the end of February to find out.

Instead it has like 30% longer battery life than Samsung phones… I think I prefer battery life before thinner devices.

I would like to have better battery life and I would like, that my phone would feel great in hand. And do those thin phones feel great in hand? No.

I’m not surprised at all it has the Super AMOLED Plus, it’s what I’ve been saying all along. Samsung only don’t sell their latest technology, and the latest technology would be the HD Super AMOLED, the SAMOLED+ is not new technology anymore therefore Samsung van pass it on to their biggest client: Nokia. Same thing happened with Super AMOLED in 2010. They kept it for themselves, but as soon as they developed the SAMOLED+ they sold the super AMOLED to Nokia to put in E7 and X7.

Now, here’s hoping that Samsung release a new HD SAMOLED+ by the end of the year so that Nokia are able to get the HD SAMOLED to put it on their WP8 phones

Its 1.4GHZ processor is good enough to perform faster. I also like other features especially its unique design. I think the pixel density is acceptable.
