Jibe social messenger for Windows Phone 7 unveiled

The Jibe Social Messenger application for Windows Phone 7 that will be available to our Japanese friends on the Fujitsu IS12T has been unveiled in the PDF document today. This is an all-in-one application that allows users to easily connect to Messenger, Facebook, Skype, Evernote and tons of over social media services. As you can see in the screenshot above the Jibe application follows the Metro UI guidelines by using a panorama control to show the main menu, timeline, friends and hot topics.

Anyway, this application will most probably only be available in Japan and on the the Fujitsu IS12T on KDDI at first ( Jibe and KDDI are close partners). Jibe is also look for Windows Phone developers if you are located in Japan.

Fujitsu IS12T Earthquake Warning system and RTM Mango build

It’s a well known fact that Japan is regularly shaken by earthquake that’s why mobile carriers have implemented an earthquake warning system that alerts there users when such an event happens. This functionality has apparently already been implemented in the Fujitsu IS12T firmware as seen in the picture above. Jut note that this isn’t a Windows Phone feature and that it’s available on other platforms/cellphone to o in Japan.

The RTM Mango build 7720 is also now up and running on the device as seen in the picture after the break:

New Windows Phone square logo

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the passed few weeks you may have already noticed that the Windows phone logo is now a square instead of a circle. This was obviously done to match the Metro tiles which will also be present in Windows 8 next year so one can expect another logo change in the near future when the desktop/Tablet OS finally ships. You will also note that this also confirms the Windows Phone branding I was talking about a while ago. It doesn’t matter if Mango is Windows Phone 7.5, or 7.1, the phone will be branded Windows Phone same for the Marketing etc.. Now the big question is; Will the marketing campaign be as poor as last years or are will finally going to see something worth the millions that are being spent?

Nokia Sea Ray to be unveiled on August 17th during Gamescon in Germany?

Nokia has apparently started to send out invites for a Windows Phone related event taking place on August 17th during the Gamescon event in Cologne, Germany. This could be the Nokia Sea Ray official unveiling but nothing can be confirmed yet. I first speculated that Nokia would unveil the handset a few weeks prior to the Nokia World event in October but now that Mango is RTM and that the Fujitsu IS12T has been introduced it’s only logical for Nokia and the other Windows Phone OEMs to start to create some buzz by announcing their upcoming Windows Phone 7.5 handset which should start hitting carriers and retail stores as early as October.

UPDATE: Nokia started to send out the invites last week so I uploaded a not watermarked version of it. This is only a developer focused event after all… Thanks to Katsura in the comments
