Fujitsu IS12T preview

The boys at Nanapho manged to head over to the KDDI Design Studio shop in Tokyo to take a quick look at the recently announced Fujitsu IS12T Mango handset. The devices on display were obviously prototype handset which are running the 7716 build of the OS (7720 is the RTM build). This build features hidden WiFi network connections support and probably some other functionalities that are not available in the current Beta build (7712) .

As you can see in the picture below, they even seemed to be powered by a MSM7x30 SoC instead of the MSM8655 that will be powering the final retail devices.

Prototype devices often have different parts from the final versions (or in this case can be running an MSM7X30 boot loader instead). For example the early builds of the Sony Experia Arc also had an MSM7X30 instead of a MSM8255. Anyway, in case you are wondering; MTPz stand for Media Transfer Protocol Zune and TFTP is Trivial File Transfer Protocol.

The IS12T also feature Clear Voice technology which can be toggle on and off by the user (this is an OEM only addition):

And features several shooting resolutions:

- 4:3 VGA (640×480)
- 16:9 Full HD (1920×1080)
- 4×3 3M (2048×1536)
- 4:3 5M (2592×1944)
- 4:3 8M (3264×2448)
- 4:3 13M (4128×3096)

Technically the last resolution is 12.8MPixels and not 13MP (or even 13.2MP as the sensor is capable of). We have yet to know how Fujitsu got this to work with the Snapdragon chipset which only supports sensors up to 12MP.

Each IS12T model has its own custom accent color:

So that is actually 1080p recording we are seeing here? And this is nowhere to be found mentioned in the marketing material for this phone? And you wonder why WP7 devices arent selling, pathetic.

No this is for pictures not videos :) . It can shoot pictures  in 16:9 (1080P). Video should be 720P@30fps with the MSM8X55.

1080p is a video resolution, not sure how they can mix those up.

1080p is not a “video” resolution (there’s no such thing at “xxx” resolution). It’s simply one of the many 16:9 resolution available for photo, video, game, frame buffer or whatever etc..: 640×360, 854×480 1024×576, 1280×720, 1366×768, 1600×900, 1920×1080, 2560×1440 and 3840×2160. Tons of camera (and phones) have the option to shot picture in 1080P so they can then be displayed in full screen on Full HD TVs.:)
