Microsoft negotiating Android licensing deal with Samsung

Microsoft has been signing licensing agreements with lots of Android ODMs and OEMs in the past few weeks, but besides HTC’s deal which was signed in April 2010 no other major phone manufacturer has agreed to the same terms. Motorola declined and is now being sued by Redmond, but Samsung is apparently currently trying to negotiate behind closed doors with the software giant.

According to source in Seoul, Microsoft is asking to be paid $15 for each Android smartphone manufactured by Samsung. The South Korean mobile manufactured wants to lower this to $10 in exchange for a deeper alliance with Microsoft and its Windows platforms. This is still double from what HTC is supposedly paying for the use of Android.
