USA Today application for Windows Phone 7 released: hands on video

The official USA Today app for Windows Phone 7 has just been released for free in the Marketplace. Contrary to some other official news paper applications like AP Mobile… or the recently released LeMonde.fr, this one doesn’t seem to be riddled with bugs. Navigation is fast and relatively snappy and I didn’t experience any crashing issue so far. Scrolling is also extremely smooth in listboxes and when reading news stories (yes this is possible even without Mango… just need to code it right). Once in a while a nicely coded app pops up on Windows Phone 7 and this week USA Today is the one. Check out my video tour after the break:

The application’s features:

Headlines
- Browse and read stories from News, Money, Sports, Life, Tech and Travel. Stories can be shared via email, text message, Twitter, or Facebook.

Scores
- Review the latest sports scores for NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, college football and college basketball. Filter college scores down to your favorite conferences.

Weather
- Get live weather conditions, up-to-the minute personal radar and the five day forecast at your current location, or for a set of your favorite locations. Review national weather maps including Doppler radar, temperature and precipitation forecasts.

Pictures
- Flip through the day’s best photos from news, sports, celebrities, science, travel and weather or play them back as a slideshow. Share your favorite photo galleries with friends via email.

USA TODAY Snapshots
- Scan through USA TODAY Snapshots, and vote on a poll question for each. Review responses from all users.

Maybe they will make “Europe Today” next so that you can get Celsius. Great hands-on I like the app. Maybe they will make “Europe Today” next so that you can get Celsius. Great hands-on I like the app.
