Microsoft finally patches Windows Phone 7 update errors

Still having update issues when trying to installed the 7008 or NoDo (7390) update on your Windows Phone 7 devices? Well, Microsoft has finally released a patch that should fix two of the most common errors encountered by some users:

800705B4: The timer ran out on what we were trying to do.
80180080: We couldn’t update your phone because your operating system might be corrupt.

You may remember that I constantly got the 800705B4 error when attempting to update to 7008 no long ago and at the time the only way to fix this was to hard-reset the handset before updating. Thankfully there’s now a patch that you can directly grab from here:

Download the Windows Phone Support Tool from the Microsoft Download Center. If you have a 32-bit system, download the WPSupportTool-x86.msi package. If you have a 64-bit system, download the WPSupportTool-amd64.msi package.

Follow the instructions here and then attempt to update your phone again.

Thanks for the heads up Arun

No dice. Still says my phone is up to date at version 7.7004. NOT cool.
I’m starting to become convinced that my unlocked Omnia 7 handset is completely cut off from microsoft’s update service. Others have already got it, mine’s useless, what the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-?!?!?!
