11 More Windows Phone 7 sessions added MIX11. But they are still a mystery

As Mary Jo just pointed out Microsoft has just added 11 new Windows Phone related sessions to the MIX11 calendar. The sessions’ topics probably won’t be unveiled before the conference’s opening keynote where Joe Belfiore is excepted to discuss Windows Phone 7′s future road map and Mango. Most of the new sessions seem to be about Silverlight (and one about XNA) so it’s safe to assume that something like SL5 for Windows Phone or a new version SL for WP7 is going to be unveiled. I just recently posted a short editorial about what to expect in 2012 so check it out and post your thoughts.

Update your Windows Phone 7 device in one click

If you are still waiting for the NoDo (or even pre-nodo) update notification here’s your last chance to get (just kidding). C.Walshie has just released a small ChevronWP7.Updater tool based on the recently released patches that will enable any phone to get the update without any hacks or anything else. Just download the following files:

x86 Operating System (32 bit) x64 Operating System (64 bit)
Windows Phone Support Tools Windows Phone Support Tools
ChevronWP7.Updater ChevronWP7.Updater

Install the Windows phone support patch, unzip the chevron toll and plug-in your device. All you have to do then is to run the tool and follow the prompts. But one thing you’ll have to keep in mind is that there’s no going back because there’s no back-up involved in this process at all.

UPDATE: The ChevronWP7.Updater¬†files have been taken down… so just head over here and try the previous trick to get your WP7 device up-to-date

Microsoft finally patches Windows Phone 7 update errors

Still having update issues when trying to installed the 7008 or NoDo (7390) update on your Windows Phone 7 devices? Well, Microsoft has finally released a patch that should fix two of the most common errors encountered by some users:

800705B4: The timer ran out on what we were trying to do.
80180080: We couldn’t update your phone because your operating system might be corrupt.

You may remember that I constantly got the 800705B4 error when attempting to update to 7008 no long ago and at the time the only way to fix this was to hard-reset the handset before updating. Thankfully there’s now a patch that you can directly grab from here:

Download the Windows Phone Support Tool from the Microsoft Download Center. If you have a 32-bit system, download the WPSupportTool-x86.msi package. If you have a 64-bit system, download the WPSupportTool-amd64.msi package.
