Microsoft Research shows Windows Phone 7 some love at TechForum event

Microsoft Research had its TechForum event yesterday where it showcased some of it’s latest projects to the press. Windows Phone 7 happily took the center stage this year in several demonstrations. In the first video after the break you will see Microsoft Chief Research and Technology Officer, Craig Mundie, demonstrated a new UI controlled by an HTC HD7. This may or may not be what we can expect to see in the upcoming Windows 8 but it definitely shows us where Microsoft is heading with regards to UI and NUIs.

Ilomilo for Windows Phone 7 receives new major update with 23 new levels

Southend interactive has just announced the release of an updated version of Ilomilo for Windows Phone 7 which contains a boatload of new free content. All you have to do is hit the marketplace and update the application or just buy it because it is simply one of the best mobile game currently available.

The content update features:

- The story of ilo and milo continue through two new gorgeous worlds.
- 23 new levels of cubistic puzzles!
- New eggs to find in order to unlock two new challenging bonus levels!
- New brain teasing cubes!

Halo Waypoint for Windows Phone 7 gets a major update

Microsoft has just released a major update to for the Halo Waypoint Windows Phone 7 application today.It finally enables some of the features that weren’t accessible in the first version and feels a tiny bit more snappier. But I’m a bit disappointed that it still doesn’t run under lockscreen:

Halo Waypoint for your Windows Phone 7 has gotten a sweet overhaul (available now!) with the addition of:

– Your Halo: Reach Service Record
– Xbox LIVE functionality
– New in-depth stats you won’t find anywhere else.

Sprint HTC Arrive aka HTC 7 Pro announced. Launching March 20th for $199.99

The first CDMA Windows Phone 7 handset finally has a release date. Sprint has just announced the HTC Arrive which is be essentially the CDMA version of the HTC 7 Pro already released in some European countries. The Arrive will be available on March 20th for $199 after mail-in rebate on a 2 year contract. Microsoft’s update on the Windows Phone 7 update issue

Microsoft has just posted some more information on the infamous Windows Phone 7 update issue affecting the Samsung Omnia 7 and Focus devices. Unfortunately you won’t learn anything new as this whole blog post seems to be a PR damage control statement more than anything else. The company is still claiming that the update has been suspended for Samsung devices even though this isn’t true (yes, my Omnia7 is still getting prompted to update every time I plug it into a PC) UPDATE: My Omnia 7 is finally no loner promted to update.

•90 percent of people who’ve received an update notification have installed the new software patch successfully. (So when your turn to download it arrives, chances are good this will be a non-event.)
•Of the 10 percent who did experience a problem, nearly half failed for two basic reasons—a bad Internet connection or insufficient computer storage space. Luckily, both are easy to fix.
