New Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware Rom available and Samsung I7850 Omnia 8 coming soon ?

May I know how did you update this ROM on your Omnia 7 ?

Yup looks like using the Diagnosis tool will be your only solution for now. Was really pleasantly surprised with the Data connection speed boost thought!

Can you post a video omnia 7 running this latest rom? I’m interested in seeing how faster the OS has become and if this build contains copy/paste as well?

I’ll shoot a video later (it’s a bit late right now ) And there’s no Copy-Paste or any new feature (the OS is exactly the same). OS Updates will only come through Microsoft.

When I bought my Focus I did not know that the phone had not Copy And Paste. I would not dare buy any WP7 phone today. They seems like they are light years behind, Competitors

Oh really I have an Iphone, iPod an iPad and a Omnia 7; seems to me that WP7 i plenty compeitive to me – care to explain why c/p suddenly are a messure of light year.

I have it… I guess I dared to buy it and you know what?? It’s DAMN good. Do I miss CP? Uh… every once in a while. Does it imped my ability? Nope.

Can you please try if the phone switches off, when hitting the powerbutton while the phone is locked?
Then we could avoid the occasional shutdowns

When phone is locked if I (long) press the power button it shuts down the phone (same as when I do it when it’s not locked). Same thing happens when I long press the power button while the screen is OFF. Simply pressing on the power button just turns the screen on and off(as it normally should).

I’ll hope this get fixed some time… I see no sense in switching off the Phone while the screen is off. It’s just annoying when you find out that the phone switched itself off an you didnt notice… this is even worse then the iphones antenna problem

I wouldn’t say that it’s comparable to the iPhone issues (I personally never had a problem with the phone shutting off).It’s probably ans OS thing thought so it’s up to Microsoft to change this behavior.

Just found out that i had some troubles with the battery, not with the powerbutton: grabbing the phone at the two ends and twisting it carefully resulted in an direct shutdown! (I’d call it the in-pocket-simulation ) took the battery out and put it back in, now it seems to work.

but for the firmware: i bought my phone in Luxemburg on December 1st, and the “actual” firmware seemed to be installed since the beginning! I havent changed a thing and its uptodate with 2424.10.11.1

Yeah the battery cover can be a bit loose so I’m guessing that this was probably causing your battery to move a little bit in there.
The Firmware is dated November 2010 so it’s not surprising that it’s already shipping in Handsets manufactured in Dec. Thankfully you check it out before flashing (and potentially wasting your time )

When you update your firmware does it remove anything already stored on your phone such as sms, contacts, etc? Do you have to start from scratch?

Yes you will have to start from scratch.

Can you tell if flash firmware totaly reset the phone? Erase contact, applications, personnal parameters, sms, photos…

Yes everything is wiped from the phone, you will have to re-setup everything.

Well the only thing that you can’t save are the SMS and IE bookmarks. Everything else can be backed (or easily re-syned) with the Zune software (pictures,videos,music and applications) and contacts are automatically synced with the cloud.

Dam, why it is so hard to them to make at least russian onscreen keyboard??

Will this be officially release by Samsung so it can be updated without the potential loss of warranty?

This is something we don’t know yet. What is known thought is that the Omnia 7 devices currently sold have this Firmware pre-installed. I’m guessing that the changes included in it will proably be part of the update package that will be pushed by MS next month but I frankly can’t guarantee this. HTC is in a similar situation too (several updated HTC HD7 firmwares that included an improved radio stack are already circulating and can be flashed, but nothing has been “officially” released).

I just recieved my Omnia 7 which I ordered from Amazon )) . It already have the F/W Update installed.
P.S.: I didn’t try to update and probably will not until a fix is available.

following samsungfirmwares guidelines shouldn’t the XEN firmware languages be: EN,ET,LT,LV,RU,UK (AZ,BG,DE,FR,KA,KK,MK,RO,SR)

while the BSE languages: CS,DE,EN,FR,HU,IT,PL,SL

???? I know I missing something here…. can you help me out?
