Fruit Ninja for Windows Phone 7 hands on video review

Here’s a video I just shot of the recently released Fruit Ninja Xbox Live enabled game on Windows Phone 7. Fruit Ninja is a pretty neat game that you might have already played or seen on the iPhone / iPod Touch or iPad were the goal is to cut / slice as many fruits as you can by swiping you finger across the screen. The game runs correctly  on the device (the Samsung Omnia 7 in this case) and looks identical to the original version (fruits are rendered in 3D) but there are sometimes micro pauses when something loads (when doing combos for example the game stutters a bit).  There’s nothing too fancy about it but this is really the kind of game that is perfect on a touch screen mobile device. Check it out after the break.

Google Nexus One to get Gingerbread Android 2.3 in a couple of weeks

Google Nexus One owners will apparently have to wait a couple more weeks before Gingerbread aka Android 2.3 is pushed out to their device according to Google. There’s obviously nothing stopping the impatient ones to installed one of the freshly baked Gingerbread ROMs found on XDA (like on the Galaxy S and HTC HD2) but my opinion is that a few more days to wait is the price to pay for something stable and rock solid. So just chill and have some nice holidays.

Over 1.5 million Windows Phone 7 handsets sold in six weeks

Microsoft has finally  decided to communicate the first Windows Phone 7 unit sales today. According to Achim Berg, corporate vice president, Mobile Communications Business and Marketing Group, OEMs have already sold 1.5 million Windows Phone 7 devices to retailers and carriers (not end-user..) in six weeks. This definitely far from bad  (but not super amazing and reaching the 30 million units predicted earlier this year is going to be hard) and really promising for the future of the platform but Microsoft still doesn’t want to communicate the number of units sold to end-users . Also keep in mind that Microsoft is making money off off every WP7 licenses sold to OEMs. Check out the full interview after the break:
