Apple’s number one fan praises Windows Phone 7

This came out of no-where especially when you know who John Gruber is. The numero uno Apple fan (hell, even Steve Jobs quotes him) who is notorious for hating on everything that isn’t an Apple product had a brief 5 minutes hands-on with Microsoft’s Joe Marini’s Asus E600 Windows Phone 7 handset during the Web 2.0 event in NYC a few days ago and talked about the experience in a podcast posted last week. So what does he think about it? Well, I suggest that you listen to him praising Microsoft’s new platform during nearly 10 minutes (starting at 54:30). Quotes after the beak:

Motorola still open to using Windows Phone 7

The company that just got sued by Microsoft is still open to use Windows Phone 7 ? Surprised ? Business is business and Motorola knows this. Moto’s CEO Sanjay Jha basically repeated exactly the same thing he told the WSJ back in February during MWC. Motorola is apparently trying to decide on what is going the next step:

“I am open to finding ways to work with Microsoft,” Mr. Jha said. “But it has to be a compelling offering.”

Microsoft will unveil the new operating system, called Windows Phone 7, next week. Mr. Jha said Motorola engineers haven’t seen the system. But, he said, “From what I have heard, it is a rational offering.”
[...]
The Motorola co-CEO said he isn’t “overly unsettled” by the Microsoft lawsuits, and that “some of these lawsuits are part of business.”

“I would much rather have done without that lawsuit, but it doesn’t always work out that way,” Mr. Jha said. “We will consider all of our options.”

Another Samsung Omnia 7 aka Samsung GT-i8700 hands-on video

Apparently another video of the Samsung Omnia 7 aka Samsung GT-i8700 was uploaded to YouTube last night. This one is 13 Minutes long and features a French user located in Casablanca (Morocco) messing around with Samsung latest and greatest Windows Phone 7device. You will also see the rather small Samsung Hub (which contains Weather, News and Stocks tabs) in action similar to what we saw in the previous video that was taken down. The device is apparently headed to the French carrier SFR (Vodafone). Video after the break:

Windows Phone 7 Music applications: Slacker Radio, IHeartRadio and MusixMatch

Besides the integrated Zune experience and the recently announced Spotify application (only in Europe) Windows Phone 7 user will have relatively large choice of music applications with the addition of 3 new applications that have just been unveiled: Slacker Radio, Iheartradio and MusixMatch. Cnet had the chance to go hands-on with them (no video unfortunately) and post some brief impressions. According to them, all three applications strictly follow the Metro UI guidelines with the use of Panorama and Pivot controls making them super easy to use.

LG Optimus 7 / E900 press shots

The soon to be released LG Optimus 7 aka LG E900  Windows Phone 7 handset was apparently part of the same press photo-shoot as the HTC Mondrian / HTC 7 Trophy we saw a few days ago. Given that both sets of photos looks identical in lighting and setup and guessing that both originate from a Microsoft PR document. For more info about the LG Optimus 7 I will suggest you go and check this news post and this one too. More shots after the break:
