HTC Mozart support page online on Orange’s website

Orange UK has apparently jumped the gun and posted the tiny bit of the HTC Mozart User Guide on their server ahead of the official announcement next Monday. frankly there isn’t much to chew on here other that a few drawings/diagrams explaining how to open the device to insert the sim card and battery. It looks nearly identical to the HTC Legend’s uni-body chassis design.

Get early access to submit your application to the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace

Microsoft has just announced an early access submissions programm for all developers who have already finished their Windows Phone 7 application and wish to submit it as soon as possible to the marketplace. Because of the relatively large number of applications being developed and the fact that the Marketplace back-end is totally new an revamped ,Microsoft has decided to get things done on gradualy and the timeline looks like this:

•Oct 4: All registered developers have been contacted and invited to request early submission to the Marketplace certification process.

•Oct 6: Deadline for registered developers to respond to the invitation to participate in early submission. Of those that request access, an initial group of a couple of thousand developers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis to receive guidance and early access to the new application submission and certification process.

•Oct 11: Participating early certification developers will receive instructions on submitting their xaps, allowing those apps to be published in Marketplace in the lead up to, and after, launch.

•Oct 12-November: Microsoft will continue processing submissions and prioritizing new requests in the order they are received until the self-serve submission process is broadly enabled.

Spotify for Windows Phone 7 announced and Windows Mobile 6.x version released

Microsoft and Spotify have just announced the upcoming availability of a Windows Phone 7 application and the availability of the Windows Mobile 6.X version. The Windows Phone 7 application will apparently follow the Metro design guidelines and will integrate into the Zune Music & video hub. For those of you who have been worried about a potential lack of Third-party application on WP7 this fall this will hopefully reassure you. Now I wonder if this application will allow background music streaming (you know..real multi-tasking…). I would be surprised if it does. Full Press Release and video after the break:

HTC Mozart specifications leaked: 8Mp Camera with Xenon Flash confirmed

Following last night’s HTC HD7 leak comes the HTC Mozart hardware specifications. The big deal here is the 8MP camera and Xenon flash that we all saw a few weeks ago in the leaked video and that are now confirmed on paper. The Mozart will sport a 3.7″ WVGA screen (compared to the 3.8″ on the HTC Mondrian / Spark/ Trophy and 4.3″ on the HTC HD7 / HD3), a 1ghz CPU (no word on the model thought), 1300mh battery and will have the following size: 119 x 60.5 x 11.9 mm. I find it interesting that HTC decided to differentiate this device with the higher MP camera (which is also capable of HD recording) and a Xenon flash (which is a first for HTC). More pictures after the break:

Windows Phone 7 Worldwide Launch event on October 11th

It’s now official like a referee whistle. There’s Windows Phone 7 worldwide launch event talking place in NYC (and everywhere else in the world I guess) on October 11th. But this is apparently not really related to the Open House press event taking place on the same day in NYC. The WP7 event will be held at the Microsoft Technology Center located in Microsoft’s NYC office  and doesn’t seem to be a press event (members of the press have already received their Open House invites which AFAIK don’t even mention Windows Phone 7) . So I’m guessing that this is aimed at Developers, marketing, retail partners. T-Mobile will also be present to showcase its WP7 devices. Stay tuned for more…

Steve Ballmer: word of mouth and marketing are key to Windows Phone 7′s success

With the imminent launch of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 it is only natural to see the company’s CEO quizzed about the subject by several newspapers. A few days ago it was the Seattle Times and today is the Wall Street Journal’s turn. The WSJ sat down with Ballmer prior to the Microsoft vs Motorola filling and asked him several questions about the Microsoft’s mobile strategy. Nothing really new comes out of it but similar to what he said in the ST interview, Ballmer doesn’t want to make any sales forecast and expects world of mouth and marketing to play a big role in the WP7′s platform success. Redmond has already done a pretty good job when it comes to developer relations and evangelism in the past few months but now every-body’s waiting to see how the marketing campaign is going to look like and more importently what the OEMs are going to offer this fall. Quotes after the break:
