USB Tethering coming to Windows Phone 7 ?

File this under the rumor category: Rich Dudley, Technical Evangelist at ComponetOne just tweeted the following:

Official word–Windows Phone 7 will support USB tethering, carriers can NOT charge extra, above the data plan. #WP7 #fb

I don’t know what to think about this one given that from what I have seen in Windows Phone 7 (even in the RTM Rom) there was sign of tethering support. And the part about carriers not charging any extra also sounds suspicious. Australian carrier Tesltra has also confirmed not long ago that this feature wasn’t present in the OS. Everything’s possible though…Let’s wait and see.

Hungry Castaway Windows Phone 7 game shown on video

Here’s a video demonstrating a nice looking (and fairly simple) indie  Windows Phone 7 called Hungry Castaway. The game was developed but one person (MS MVP Roger Petters) and realy showcases the fact that you don’t have to be a big company to start creating neat looking XNA games for Microsoft’s mobile platform. We are getting loser to the launch of WP7 and all these little applications we have seen popping up on a daily basis re-enforce my sentiment that the Marketplace will be filled with application from the get go. Video after the break:

HTC Desire HD Specifications

HTC has just officially unveiled the HTC Desire HD which can be simply described as the European version of the HTC EVO 4G (without the Wimax Radio) because the hardware specification of the device are identical (besides the SLCD panel). Update: Well it looks like the device apparently features the new MSM8255 SoC (with the Adreno 205 GPU)! This will hopefully be the chipset used by HTC for the Windows Phone 7 devices. Similar to the HTC Desire Z, the Desire HD will also be sporting Android 2.2 with the new Sense UI once it hits retail (and Vodafone) on October 13th. One of the newest addition is the face Recognition feature implemented in the camera software like the original HTC Desire ( Dobly and SRS surround sound + DLNA have also been added) but I guess that this will also finds it way in the US devices sooner or later. Specs after the break:

Official HTC T-Mobile G2 / Desire Z specifications

Tomorrow is going to be a big day filled by HTC’s event and the launch of Internet Explorer 9 Beta (I’ll be present at the event at the Microsoft Campus). Even-though the G2 has already been announced a few days ago HTC has just posted the official specs sheet of the device today. The G2 will probably known as the Desire Z in Europe and Asia/Pacific so this will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from tomorrow event in London:
