Microsoft Windows Phone 7 buries the competition

What you are seeing here has nothing to do with marketing or PR so don’t get your panties in a bunch. The Windows Phone 7 team held a internal event today to celebrate the shipping of the  RTM version of the OS and have some fun. As you can see in the pictures Microsoft is claiming that Windows Phone 7 buries the competition and also mimicked the funeral of the iPhone and BlackBerry platform. More pictures after the break:

Google Maps Mobile 4.5 for Android adds Walking Nagivation and updated Street View

Google continues to update Google Maps Mobile for Android nearly on monthly basis with new features or functionalities and the 4.5 version released last night it proof of this with the addition of Walking Navigation and a new updated Street View. The Walking Navigation is accessible after hitting the navigation icon and then selecting “Walking” option. As with the regular car navigation feature you will need a GPS fix for it to work. The Street View features has also been updated and now looks closer to what is available on the desktop (but isn’t enabled on my French Samsung Galaxy S). Check out a demo video after the break:

Microsoft’s President of Business Division becomes Nokia’s CEO

This frankly came out of nowhere and will surely make a lot of buzz for a while. You may have been aware that Nokia was searching for a new CEO lately but who would have thought that Microsoft’s President of Business Division (Office, Dynamics, Outlook etc…), Stephen Elop, will be the guy? One has to wonder if this is some kind of Microsoft super tactical plan to later take over the Finnish mobile giant… Anyway here’s the full Press Release followed by Steve Ballmer’s email on the subject:

First Asus Windows Phone 7 device shown on video

That’s right folks, the previously leaked Windows Phone 7 Asus E600 handset is finally revealed in a 12 mins long video today. I personally think that it looks really nice and a lot better than what I expected after I saw the first leaked picture a few weeks ago. Screen seems to be AMOLED and you will also get to how the current “internal” Marketplace looks like. Also note that the ROM on the device (which I “witnessed” first hands last week) is different from the ones currently in the wild (notice that Bing Maps features the new colors layout..).
