Leaks? What leaks? Yeah things aren’t going to stop now that we are nearing the launch of Windows Phone 7. Here are several pictures of the HTC Spark which is also apparently called the HTC Mondrian or HTC 7 Trophy. THere’s othing we haven’t seen before (the press shots leaked last night). The device does look quite nice IMO (not the HTC Hub tho…) More pictures after the break:

As is was previously announced Microsoft is officially enabling US only Windows Phone 7 applications developers to register their apps if they wish to monetize them through Microsoft’s PubCenter (using the SDK released 2 weeks ago). Unfortunately this only applies to US residents so the vast majority will have to rely on Google’s Mobile Adsense or Admob advertising platform. More info after the break:

This shouldn’t come as a surprise given all the Windows Phone 7 Samsung handsets we have seen roaming freely and especially the fact that the Samsung Taylor (seen above) is one of the prototype handset used to develop the OS. Today Samsung is officially announcing its support for Microsoft’s new mobile platform and the launch of several Windows Phone 7 devices in Europe, US and Asia this year. Full press release after the break:

Is it the HTC Mondrian or HTC 7 Trophy ? One thing for sure thought: both phones look identical. There’s still no word on the specs besides what was rumored a few days ago and nothing seems to have been extracted from the Spark / Trophy Rom that leaked 2 days ago or the Mondrian Rom that leaked this summer (this one mentioned the presence of a Qualcomm QSD8250A aka MSM8255 chipset) . More Pictures after the break:

UK Blogger Michael Gillet sat down with Microsoft UK’s head of marketing for Windows Phone 7, Oled Ran who showed him a demo of an unannounced MSN application that apparently works as an advanced RSS reader for the MSN news services (and lets you stream video through it). Interestingly,Oled also told him and Sony Ericsson is currently working on at least one Windows phone 7 handset. You probably remember that SE announced last week that their main focus will be on Android but that WP7 was still on their road-map so it’s good to have a confirmation coming from Microsoft’s side.

The Seattle Times sat down with Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer for a quick Q&A session about the company’s current and upcoming products. It is interesting to see that Microsoft is really conservative and doesn’t xant to talk about any Windows Phone 7 sales forecast (contrary to what happened back in May..). Steve states that the primary goal with WP7 is to have a vast OEM ecosystem filled with great looking and interesting devices:
Q: Windows Phone 7 (a cellphone platform) is coming out this holiday season. How are you going to turn this into a billion-dollar business for Microsoft?
A: The place to start is, “Are we going to have cool phones out with our software on them this holiday season?” You put aside the questions of how you make money and blah, blah, blah. That’s all interesting in the long run. In the short run (claps his hands and rubs them together), people gotta want these phones. I think they’re going to look pretty good. … If we start the popularity chain and start kind of the buzz around these things, we’ll be able to make some money off them.

BGR managed to snap a couple of pictures of the Verizon HTC Merge which is also know as the HTC Lexikon. The Dual-Mode (CDMA and GSM) Android 2.2 is probably going to be the CDMA version of the HTC Desire Z that was announced no long ago so you can expect it to have similar specifications including the MSM7x30 chipset. More pictures after the break:

The hotly anticipated Samsung GT-i8700 Windows Phone7 handset has just passed the GCF certification today. This device seems to be one of the most WP7 phone out of all the other we have seen leaked lately. Ironically, somebody how had the chance to use it told me that it definitely inst his favorite especially because of the ugly plastic backside that looks completely out of place compared to the front.

More dates, more fun…HTC has just sent out press invitations for an October 7 launch event in Taiwan. Could this be about the company’s Windows Phone 7 devices? If so then this will perfectly match the October 7th Windows Phone 7 event in Paris hosted by Steve Ballmer which was announced nearly 3 months ago. But, this is most likely the Taiwanese version of the Android launch event that took place in London on September 15th. The invitation is nearly identical and you can see the HTC Desire HD in it. HTC won’t launch or announce its Windows Phone 7 handsets before Microsoft’s conference/event/whatever you want to call it.

I seems like HTC still can’t get over the fact that they aren’t allowed to customize the Windows Phone 7 UI. In an interview with the Seattle Times, Peter Chou, has stated once again that he hopes to “innovate on top” of Windows Phone 7 even though the general consensus after the leaked HTC Hub videos is that the company isn’t really doing a good job at it with all the funky looking animations. Check it out after the break:

Wooo! more Windows Phone 7 date rumors…Microsoft is holding a press conferenceon October 11 (Open House day in NYC) which will start at 2PM GMT and 9AM ET-6AMPT US. Unfortunitely the subject of the event is nowhere to be seen (no mention of WP7 or anything) so we will have to wait again before knowing what it is all about. Just yesterday P.Thurott was telling us that OCT 11 isn’t about Windows Phone 7..things are getting complicated…
Ready for more Windows Phone 7 launch date rumors? According to Paul Thurott the US launch of Windows Phone 7 will take place on November 8. This will be 2 weeks after the rumored European launch. Paul also confirms that apparently the October 11th Open House NYC event is not related to WP7. Anyway, the only think that is official today is the fact that Steve Ballmer will be in Europe in early October (Oct 6 in the UK and Oct 7 in France for the Windows Phone 7 developer event).

Let the leaks begin! The second HTC windows Phone 7 device rom has just leaked a few minutes ago and is apparently Vodafone’s HTC Spark aka HTC 7 Trophy (aka HTC Mondrian?) Rom (RUU_Spark_Vodafone_UK_1.07.161.04_Spark_5.50.09_RELEASE). As you can see in the screenshot above the device pictured looks exactly like the HTC 7 Trophy. Not much else is known about the ROM but I’m sure that XDA folks will take it apart soon enough. The first WP7 device rom that leaked was the HTC Mondrian’s back in May.

Nothing official folks, but according to Neowin’s sources (apparently Spanish website elEconomista posted about this 2 days ago ) the much anticipated mobile OS is set to launch on October 21. We already heard about the October 21 date a few days ago so it is safe to assume that something is going to happen. Steve Ballmer is also going to be touring Europe in early October for Windows Phone 7 and will by in France on the 7th to talk about it. But keep in mind that nothing is official yet so stay tuned for more…

Looks like AT&T is readying its Windows Phone 7 TV ads. The surprise here is that the HTC 7 Trophy (or is it the HTC Mozart / Schubert) is apparently going to be officially called the HTC Mondrian. You all remember that the HTC Mondrian’s ROM leaked more than 3 months ago (and yes it was an AT&T rom) and mentioned that the device was packing a Qualcomm QSD8250A chipset (now renamed MSM8255). There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the actual internals of HTC’s WP7 devices and Microsoft’ France head of Windows Phone’s Tweet about the rumored HTC HD7 / HD3 isn’t helping either (the tweet has since been deleted..):
Oh and for guys who think they know everything on HTC HD3, I Can Tell you you are wrong
Also note that the ads aren’t final as you can notice at the end of the first one (you see the place holder in the actors hand with the tracking dots used to composite the WP7 UI later in post-production).

Graphic.ly’s comic book reader was the first third-party application demonstrated on the platform back in March during MIX10.Since then, we only saw a silverlight version of the app in July (no longer available) but no news on the on-going development. A video showing the application running on a Samsung Taylor handset was recently posted on YouTube and give us a quick too of it. Video after the break:

We have never actually heard anything about Sony Ericsson’s Windows Phone 7 plans since the Mobile World Congress in February. For the first time the company has mentioned that Microsoft’s new mobile OS is apparently still on their roadmap but that currently their focus is principally on android.
“Android is definitely our focus, but we haven’t given up on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile, despite its slow uptake. But Windows Phone 7 remains on our roadmap. However, currently we have no plans for new Symbian products.”

Fiercewireless got some contradicting quotes from HTC’s CEO Peter Chou about Sense on Windows Phone 7.
HTC CEO Peter Chou said the smartphone vendor initially will be unable to bring its Sense UI onto its forthcoming Windows Phone 7 devices.
“Initially, we don’t have time to bring things on top of that,” he said. “But over time we will innovate on top of that to provide some HTC experience.”

After taking a closer look at Ilomilo a few weeks ago and decided to setup a similar interview with Codeglue, the developers of Rocket Riot for Windows Phone 7. Rocket Riot is originally an Xbox Live Arcade game developed in XNA for the XBOX 360. This is why thought that it would be interesting to know more about the development process and the Windows Phone 7 specific features of the game.
