Motorola Droid 2 announced: Android 2.2 and R2-D2 edition

After several months on continuous leaks the Motorola Droid 2 has now finally been announced a should be available for pre-sale tomorrow for$199,99 on a 2-year contract. Now when it comes to the hardware there’s nothing really surprising that we didn’t already know: It will run Android 2.2, feature a 3.7″ multitouch display, 5 megapixel camera, DLNA , 8GB of on-board Flash memory and will be sold with a 8GB microSD card. The R2-D2 edition that was hinted at a couple of weeks ago is also officially but will only go on sale in September for a undisclosed price. Check the full press release after the break:

Microsoft Mediaroom client application for Windows Phone 7 in the works

Microsoft is apparently working on a Mediaroom client application for Windows Phone 7.  This not really surprising giving when you look at the image above that I extracted from the Mediaroom website and the little hint found in this post . A VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) document located on Microsoft servers now confirms that a WP7 application named “Microsoft Mediaroom Client for Windows Phone 7 v 1.0″ is in the works. Nothing else is know at this moment but one can guess that this app will probably be fully integrated in the Zune Music+Video Hub of the OS similar to what is probably being done with YouTube.
