Android 2.2 for the HTC EVO 4G lauching the near future

An Sprint Employee has just post on the company’s message board that the Android 2.2/ Froyo upgrade for the HTC EVO 4G will launch soon:

As work on finalizing the software is under way, Sprint expects to launch Android 2.2 in the near future. It also will be available as an upgrade on the recently launched HTC EVO 4G.

With the Android 2.2 upgrade, customers can expect improvements to include the following benefits: updates to user interface, improved EAS Support, improved browser performance, including Flash 10x Support, voice dialing over Bluetooth and application storage on external memory.

An early hacked port of the vanilla Android 2.2 rom is already available for the EVO 4G but I wouldn’t recommend to use it.

Good for you guys! How come HTC hasn’t released a GSM version or let’s say ‘variation’ of HTC EVO 4G???

In my country CDMA networks were killed some years ago and now we only have GSM.

    Damn! :( I miss those days…
