Windows Phone 7 Development handsets coming soon

Some new information coming straight from the Windows Phone 7 event held in Maarssen (NL) indicates that developers will soon receive real hardware devices to build their applications. It is still not clear if those development devices (probably LG Panther / GW910) will by free (maybe shipped by MS to select developers) or if anybody registered as a Dev can buy one (this sounds fishy at best, I’ve never heard of a hardware manufacturer selling prototype hardware with a still unfinished OS on it…). Once Windows Phone 7 is officially launched this fall a developer will supposedly be able to “unlock” up to five retail handsets to side load applications on it (the same way apps are loaded on a Zune HD via Visual Studio).
